Bare acts allowed in AIBE 22, and what gets confiscated at the gate

Since AIBE XVI the rule has been simple and strictly enforced: unmarked bare acts only. Every year candidates lose books at the entrance because of something they thought was harmless.

Allowed

Not allowed — these get the book taken

Enforcement varies slightly by centre, and the safest assumption is the strictest reading. Confirm against the official Bar Council of India instructions on your admit card.

Which bare acts to carry

Ranked by the marks each one covers. You do not need all of them — the top five cover 53 of 100 marks.

Torts, Administrative Law and Professional Ethics have no single bare act. Carry a clean copy of the Advocates Act, 1961 for ethics; for torts and administrative law you are relying on principles and case law, so learn those rather than planning to look them up.

How to tab without getting your book confiscated

  1. Use blank tabs only. Buy plain coloured index flags. Write nothing on them.
  2. Colour-code by chapter, not by section. One colour per chapter of the act means you can find the right region in a second without any writing.
  3. Keep a mental key, not a written one. Blue is bail. Red is evidence. You memorise the key; the book stays clean.
  4. Tab from your own wrong answers. Practise, note which provisions you were slow to find, and tab exactly those. Section 45 generates this list for you after every session.
  5. Practise with the tabbed book. Tabs you have never used under time pressure are decoration.

Generate your own plan

Practise a subject, get the sections you were slowest on, and print a tabbing plan built from your own mistakes rather than a generic list.

Exam-day items

Reach the centre roughly two hours early. Books are inspected at the entrance and the queue is the part people underestimate.
